“Never apologize for how you feel. No one can control how they feel. The sun doesn’t apologize for being the sun. The rain doesn’t say sorry for falling. Feelings just are.” -Iain S. Thomas

I’ve come to realize that I am spending a lot of time worried about my feelings, how to properly convey them, and the impact they might have. This seems very silly because we cannot control how we feel and it really isn’t something that should weigh us down. We don’t need to apologize for being who we are. We can try to improve, to have more kindness in our hearts and to be patient and loving, but at the end of the day we’re only human and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Right now I am in London, doing a “wellness program” of sorts, after a long month of working hard to get things on track in my life…both emotionally and physically. This is a story I will save for another time, but it has led to a lot of self-reflection — things I am coming to understand and appreciate the importance of. While it’s been a good experience for me overall, I have been doing a lot of soul searching and it isn’t always easy bringing out those buried thoughts that tend to weigh us down. Right now I am just trying to accept and embrace feeling a bit lonely and displaced — especially missing my little dog back in the States!

I really do think it wouldn’t hurt if people were more like our four-legged friends. Seems they just love everything and everyone, no matter what. You can be happy, sad, bored, tired…they still love you and you never have to explain.

Snapped these photos, wearing a spring-inspired ensemble, at my apartment back home in Silver Lake before Ringo and I went out for a little jaunt around town. These days I am all about basics but with a subtle flair here and there. Dressed up this boyfriend tee with a simple suede snap-up skirt and some fun embroidered booties from Macy’s (via Stylinity). Put together a look that is comfortable, casual and easy to wear…when temperatures dropped I threw on a some opaque black tights and a denim jacket for a more evening-friendly outfit.
