This dress is basically everything I look for in an article of clothing…love a good edgy accent on an otherwise classic piece. Also, midnight blue has quickly become one of my favorite colors to wear. It just feels so…polished, or something.

Over the past several months, I have definitely made some significant wardrobe adjustments – whether it has been to prepare my closet for actual seasons, or to sprinkle in some additional work appropriate pieces.  To be honest, “work appropriate” has always been a term that’s made me cringe a little bit. I had the tendency to associate this genre of dressing with boring black suits, or shapeless dresses, more suitable for a funeral than a fashion blog.

After moving to New York earlier this year, however, it didn’t take long for me to realize that this mindset couldn’t have been farther from the truth! Each day I pass by hundreds of fashion-forward, professional women who, in their work chic attire, remind how way off I was in this train of thought. Not to mention bloggers like This Time Tomorrow and 9 to 5 Chic, whose inspiring sites I have become so completely addicted to!

So, let’s face it, I am going on 25, I work in an office environment, and I am not going to be able to get away with distressed denim cutoffs and cropped tops forever. That is not to say, however, that I ever plan on being a boring dresser, or giving up on my quest to create unique, quirky looks each day!

My favorite tip for jazzing up a “safe for work” ensemble is sprinkling in a few unexpected pops of color. Today, I’ve been invited to share a couple of my favorite looks on this fall trend with Balluun, a business marketplace for fashion designers and retailers. (more…)

Well summer is officially over and I can’t say I am entirely happy about it. Here is a transitional look I put together to start prepping myself for fall and, gasp, winter! This little cashmere crop top has already become a staple (clearly, considering it also made an appearance in my last post), and I have the feeling I’ll be wearing a whole lotta leather as the seasons continue to change. Typical.

Now it is time to start stocking up on fuzzy scarves, cozy sweaters, warm tights…oh, and obviously making the switch back from white wine to red. Okay, maybe I am kiiiinda excited for fall, after all.

Spent the past week in Stowe, Vermont with my fam, and it was exactly the break from reality I have been craving. Some time at the spa, good wine, and amazing company…can’t beat that! Our cabin was pretty much in the middle of nowhere, and the scenery breathtaking. Checked out some local farmer’s markets, coffee shops, breweries and bakeries…basically five days of blissful nothingness. But, as relaxing as it was, it’s good to be back in the big city, and I’m looking forward to an exciting week ahead!

There is nothing I love more than finding a piece this simple and well-structured that it doesn’t even need a ton of styling to look special. Reformation is a gem of a boutique in the Lower East Side that’s filled with garments of this kind. Whether it’s a backless dress, an asymmetric jumpsuit or a cashmere crop top, this store is packed with beautiful things that, in a perfect world, would be decorating every hanger in my imaginary walk-in closet.

Wore this to a NYFW dinner with Threadsence, where our mighty crew of fashion bloggers managed to polish off 16 bottles of wine (go team!). Among them was a sparkling red Lambrusco, which I would be much obliged to try again. Already missing my West Coast friends dearly…come back soon, please!

I can feel the seasons starting to turn, so to ease the blow of summer’s end I decided to splurge on a new top! Can’t get enough of the intricate layered detailing on the sleeves and peplum hem…and not to mention, mustard is probably my favorite color to wear. Such a sucker for Opening Ceremony, basically every one of their fall pieces is on my wishlist. What are you most excited to wear once temperatures drop!?
