Mark Twain hit the nail on the head when he said, “The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco”. The weather could not be less desirable right now. One of the many reasons I am excited to be heading to out of town this week! I am ready for some hot hot heat…bring it on NYC.

Also feeding my excitement is this new Foley + Corinna purse. Not only is it the perfect travel bag, but I am loving it for everyday wear, too. Kind of life changing after carrying around the world’s most impractical purse for months.

Have any shopping/eating/drinking recommendations in New York? I would loooove to hear them, pretty please share!! <3

*head to toe: sweater from Anthropologie, Karen Walker sunglasses, ASOS button-down, Globetrotter bag c/o Foley + Corinna, H&M pants, Jean Michel Cazabat wedges

Oh I love that MT quote. And right now, I’d pay a lot of money for a San Fran summer (dealing with 102+ in the midwest). Your outfit makes me REALLY want the cool.

I love this shoot. The outfit plays well with the colors and tones of the building in the background. Can you tell me what building that is? I just got back from a week long visit in San Francisco and I fell in love the architecture. (and the people and the food and the vintage shops!)

late comment but definitely look up PDT (aka please don’t tell) when you’re in NY! It’s a speakeasy kind of like Bourbon & Branch in SF. Worth checking out for sure and try the Humm Dog while you’re there.

Love the look…where is the ring from? I have been eyeing a similar Marcia Moran…could it be?

  6. Sofia 15. Jul, 2011 at 8:14 am #

Sooooo strange to have to wear a sweater in July. Lovely sweater, though.

  7. Marie 15. Jul, 2011 at 3:07 am #

Love this outfit!Where did you get this awesome three ring. I’m loving it!
In New York you should defintely go to Williamsburg and have a chicken/cranberry sandwich at Fabienne’s on bedford avenue! And i really recommand Café Gitane (242 Mott Street). Enjoy the avocado sandwich! And Highline Park in Chelsea is perfect!

Oh man, I agree. I was freezing in the city on Monday. Usually downtown/civic center is sunnier but no chance. But anyways, you look amazing as usual. Love the knit and the sunnies. And your hair.

NY, how fun! I agree about summers in SF being cold. When it’s too hot in southern CAlifornia, a mini road trip to SF always does the trick. As far as shopping in NY, my favorite area is Soho – along Broadway/Broom area and…Topshop, of course! I also like the wide assortment of boutiques in the area, as it’s a good mix of high, low, and everything in between. Enjoy!

That F+C bag is gorgeous!!! Mine is so much smaller but I’ve been dying for a bigger one. I love the shape of this, it’s not the same as the city tote and it’s a nice change!!!

<3 the bag. I would take a walk on the highline in Chelsea, and wind up a beergarden either at the Standard or Tom Colicchio's new one at the top of the walk. http://www.thehighline.org/

Thanks so much for the tip! I have always wanted to check out the highline…I hear it is really cool. And we’re staying at the Standard so super convenient! :)

Is that a recent Anthropologie sweater?? I think I’m in love! The weather in England is sucky too right now but at least you’re in beautiful San Francisco! I’d still be jealous even if it rained for a year! :) x

Unfortunately I got it on sale about a year ago. They might still have it online but probably a long shot. Good luck!

How did I know before clicking on your tweet that these “Summer In San Francisco” pictures would be entirely sun-less? Haha :) Love the knit, the pants, and the bag girl.

Shake Shack, Katz Delicatessen, Levain, Wafles and Dinges, Il Laboratorio del Gelato, Pommes Frites, Ippudo, 53rd and 6th Halal Cart, Momofuku = my recommendations for NY. Ohh and Nolita House was an awesome pub/lounge. Enjoy NY and all that sun!!

    Laura Reply:

Woohoo! Thanks SO much for the awesome recommendations — I am obsessed with Katz. I will definitely be stopping by for a sandwich. :)

It’s so funny when you can’t relate to other blogger outfits, I love the chic casualness of yours, summery but still warm to survive here. Not to mention the amazing details of your shoes! Hope you have an amazing time in NY!

Love your outfit and the iconic background. Those pants are fierce! NY..Buddakan for dinner with friends, Minetta Tavern for a romantic dinner a deux, 11 Madison Park for when you’re breaking the bank. 1 Oak for partying, Boom Boom Room for when you’re really partying, Bubbys or Tribeca Grill for brunch. Shopping, head to Topshop, Intermix and everything in between and if you’ve never been, the landmark Tiffany on 5th. Enjoy!!!

I’ve never been to SF before, but did you visit Kaunas when you were in LT? The area you’re standing in looks so much like Laisves Aleija (the main street) right next to the soboras, that I had to look twice. :p Alsoooo, kind of in love with your bag.
