Spring in my step

21 Mar

What better way to celebrate spring than to engage in a bit of day drinking? Personally, I cannot think of many. We woke up early and hit Union street, heading to PlumpJack (my favorite local wine shop) to stock up. Since then we’ve been devouring cheese and enjoying Sunday in the sun.

Feeling awful lucky to have a backyard in San Francisco at the moment. Plans for the rest of the day include a late-afternoon BBQ and a little more wine consumption. Happy Sunday!

Around and Around

17 Mar

We had fun in the sun this weekend and headed over to the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade/Festival near the Civic Center. After chugging a Guinness or two, we stumbled up the street to the funky little motel where my dad was staying with his friends. Being that they were in town for a Grateful Dead reunion show of sorts, the Phoenix’s “rock n’ roll” reputation drew them in.

While I’m not typically a motel kinda gal, this place is a total gem! And the artsy surroundings made for a fun-filled photo shoot.

Because nobody’s perfect…

15 Mar

Though I don’t consider myself to be much of a “makeup girl”, there are a few beauty products I simply cannot live without. Being stylish is about looking good from head-to-toe. And, well, your head includes your face….

I headed to Sephora after work today to stock up on the necessities – here’s what I came home with:

1. MD Skincare All-In-One Tinted Moisturizer: Let’s face it, there’s nothing worse than caked on foundation. This lightweight tinted moisturizer covers up blemishes and balances skin tone. The best part? It feels like you’re makeup-free!

2. Rosebud Salve: If there’s one thing I really can’t live without it’s this. And luckily, at just $6 a jar, I probably won’t have to! This lip salve is lightly tinted, stick-free, and smells good enough to eat.

3. Philosophy Eye Believe eye cream: I typically save shadow for the weekends, but this lightweight, moisturizing eye cream is a part of my daily routine.

4. LashFusion XL Instant lash Volumizer: Part of the fabulous Infusion cosmetics line (think LipFusion plumping gloss), this thick mascara is magical – making even the thinnest of lashes look long and dramatic.

5. Sephora Collection Blush Me Mono in Corail Frisson 5: At $12 a pop its the perfect affordable blush, adding a rosy tint to cheeks, with a hint of orangeish-pink shimmer.

Voilà - Five products, five minutes, and you’re absolutely radiant!

Toni Francesc fast-forwards to the future with Artificial Life

10 Mar

The final show I attended at New York Fashion Week was Toni Francesc, whose Fall/Winter 2010 Collection debuted in a sharp presentation entitled “Artificial Life”.

“The collection is based on an androgynous image, one in which man and technology combine”.

Each model wore a jet black wig, and enhancing the designs were deep rusted colors and exquisite textures. ”Artificial Life” is sleek and futuristic – ideal for the young, sophisticated woman with an edge.

And now for your viewing pleasure…

Added bonus? The show was put on by the one and only People’s Revolution, so I was able to spy on Stephanie, Andrew, Emily and friends while waiting in line!

Shoe Party

Shoe Party

Last weekend a few of my shoes got together for a Soirée (by invitation only)….

Things started out nice and structured – the shoes were a little shy…

Before long, cliques began forming – shoes started to break away from the pack.

Things were loosening up – some shoes were more composed than others….

By the end of the day it was clear who meant business – only a few shoes were left standing.

The guest list included: Elie Tahari, Sam Edelman, Opening Ceremony, Christian Louboutin, and Marni.
