Holy Hair! from the Alexander Wang show.

31 Jan

How I wish my hair was this long/thick. Loving the gorgeous messy braids adorned by Alexander Wang’s models.

The natural makeup is stunning, and check out those brows! Très Chic.

ZAP Zin Tasting and a Little SF Sunshine

31 Jan

I was so excited to win two tickets to the ZAP Zinfandel tasting event at Fort Mason yesterday! An afternoon of wine and cheese consumption is tough to beat. There were over 200 wineries pouring and the ambiance was light and cheery. After weeks of rain the sun finally came out , making for a gorgeous view of the San Francisco Bay – Alcatraz, the Golden Gate, and sailboats galore!

RuPaul talks Nasty Fashion People with W Magazine

30 Jan

“I think the fashion people are so nasty and so pretentious. One thing that I am not is pretentious and I cannot stand pretentious people. I love fashion, love color, love texture, love all of that. But all of the people who surround that are rot-ten.”

Yes, people in fashion can be tough. But I agree with Fashionista on this one – definitely a bit of a generalization.

McDonalds’ McFancy at Fashion Week – Will You Indulge?

28 Jan

Not sure how legitimate this McFancy business is, however I could not resist sharing. McDonalds is something I hate to love – a guilty pleasure, if you will. Perhaps this has something to do with my mother bribing me with Happy Meals as a child?

The Cool Hunter, a culture and design site, plans to launch McFancy at Fashion Weeks worldwide this year. With New York Fashion Week drawing near, I cannot help but wonder, will I have the pleasure of indulging in Hermès-branded french fries?

This designer-inspired McDonalds menu almost legitimizes it’s mass consumption.

The Chanel fries mentioned make me skeptical – we all know how Carl Lagerfeld feels about “fat mummies“.

Expect tuxedo-clad waiters and silver! I’ll be the fashion blogger in the corner chowing down on a Burberry burger…

Outrageous Alexander McQueen SS 2010 Ad Campaign

25 Jan

A few months back I shared my take on Alexander McQueen’s SS 2010 Python Armadillo shoes. They are over a foot tall (yes, a foot), and have seen no shortage of media coverage since last season’s Fashion Week. I just came across a preview of McQueen’s latest ad campaign featuring these snakeskin stilettos and it’s pretty outrageous!

Double take? I’ll admit I found locating model Raquel Zimmermann to be a minor challenge. It is unclear as to whether she is wearing dozens of snakes or the snakes are, in fact, wearing her.

Though clearly creepy, the image successfully embodies the edginess that is a McQueen creation. And all of the candy colors take the freakiness down a notch, making it quite appealing to the eye.  I only wish I could get a better look at what appears to be the animal-print catsuit that Zimmermann is wearing…
